INTRODUCTION

MAVIS Subwoofer Control Master MS12-600

In the pursuit of complete sound reproduction, low frequencies form the very foundation that defines the emotional depth and vitality of music. The MS 12-600 subwoofer by Mavis was developed with a clear ambition: to reach the deepest layers of bass, approaching the naturalness and realism of instruments in large-scale orchestral works, while preserving the smoothness required to honor powerful low-register vocals.

Beyond that, the MS 12-600 delivers a full-bodied, warm, and richly textured foundation, yet retains the energy, authority, and speed necessary to reproduce modern, high-impact music -from Rock and EDM to cinematic soundtracks – with impressive dynamics and scale. Born from extensive research and a wide range of experimental designs by the Mavis R&D team-including open baffle, bass-reflex, sealed, and dipole configurations – this subwoofer series represents a philosophy of unrestricted design, where the ultimate goal is always a musical experience that reaches the deepest emotional core of the listener.

The MS 12-600 is not merely a subwoofer – it is the final element that completes an audio system, enabling a truly full and emotionally engaging musical experience.

Technical Design Excellence

The MS 12-600 is conceived as a complete high-end active subwoofer system, comprising the S-212 subwoofer and the external SCM600 Subwoofer Control Master, a 600W Class AB amplifier. The S-212 and SCM600 are connected via a dedicated cable system.

Separating the amplifier from the speaker enclosure is not merely a design choice, but a strategic engineering approach that allows the full potential of Tube-Hybrid amplification technology to be realized, alongside Mavis Lab’s proprietary output transformer.

This architecture is specifically developed to overcome the inherent limitations commonly found in integrated subwoofer designs-widely seen in many high-end products today – particularly in terms of energy control, stability, and signal purity.

For the Mavis R&D team, no technical preconceptions impose limits. The MS 12-600 embodies an open design philosophy, where amplification, acoustic structure, and materials are carefully selected and optimized to achieve the ultimate goal: bass reproduction with the highest level of accuracy, depth, and emotional authenticity.

**Subwoofer Control Master SCM600**

  • Utilizing Mavis-developed Tube Hybrid Transformer technology, the driver stage employs an EL84 tube operating in zero-feedback, high-voltage conditions, enabling naturally reduced distortion even at high signal amplitudes.
The high-power solid-state output stage, combined with Mavis’s proprietary output transformer, allows the SCM600 to control the bass drivers with speed, precision, and authority-regardless of power level.
  • The subwoofer control section features a streamlined Analog Active Filter, ensuring extremely fast, accurate, and natural low-frequency response.
This analog active filter design offers one of the lowest latency performances among subwoofer filtering solutions available today.

**Subwoofer S-212**

– The S-212 features dual 12-inch woofers, purpose-designed based on the principles of Mavis LF Focus Architecture, combining an open-baffle structure with an M-shaped dipole enclosure. This configuration enables directional control of low frequencies, focusing bass energy toward the listening position while minimizing lateral dispersion to the sides.

This design differs fundamentally from most conventional subwoofer principles, as it concentrates energy into a controlled wavefront to fully deliver low-frequency performance directly to the listener. In contrast, most subwoofer solutions on the market radiate bass omnidirectionally, leading to energy loss, reduced clarity, slower transient response, or a lack of impact.

At the same time, the natural bass characteristics—one of the key strengths of open-baffle designs—are preserved, resulting in a fluid and organic low-frequency presentation.

– The technical solution and acoustic structure of the S-212 significantly reduce room modes– a phenomenon where sound waves reflect and resonate between walls, floors, and ceilings. This occurs when the wavelength of sound matches the room dimensions, creating excessive bass peaks or cancellations, particularly in the low-frequency range.

By minimizing the dispersion of bass energy into surrounding boundaries, reflections from walls and floors are reduced. As a result, the low-frequency signal reaching the listener remains clean and unmasked by overlapping reflections, delivering bass that is precise, well-defined, and highly natural.

– The two 12-inch woofers are mounted in opposing positions with an 11-degree angled offset, allowing the S-212 to achieve excellent self-cancellation of mechanical vibrations, even when operating at high output levels.

MS12-600 Series – Standard Set & Dual Set

The MS12-600 is offered in two configurations: the standard subwoofer set MS12-600 Standard and the upgraded configuration MS12-600 Dual.

MS12-600 Standard

The standard configuration includes a single S-212 subwoofer paired with an external amplifier unit, the SCM600 Subwoofer Control. The speaker-and-amplifier package is supplied with a dedicated connection cable manufactured in-house using Mavis’ premium audio-cable technology. This cable ensures a secure connection and reliable power delivery, helping the subwoofer operate stably.

MS12-600 Dual

The upgraded MS12-600 Dual configuration includes two S-212 subwoofers paired with one SCM600 Subwoofer Control external amplifier. The set is supplied with the same dedicated in-house connection cable made with Mavis’ high-end cable technology, guaranteeing robust connections and consistent power for stable performance.

Anti-vibration Speaker Stand

In addition to the standard speaker stand included with the product, a premium optional stand — the MS12-600 Anti-vibration Stand — is available as an upgrade. This stand enhances aesthetics while providing optimal vibration isolation to ensure maximum stability during operation. With this stand, music with extremely high dynamics — at any playback level — will not cause any significant impact on sound quality.
